Hi everyone! First time I post on this new forum and there is great stuff out here!
I start this thread showing the design evolution of an Octopus Brooch I’m sculpting on my latest ZBrush Live sreamings, so I’ll show you how it goes, hopefuly till the finished piece!
Design composition is based over a baroque pearl, scanned from a real one, and this first render mimics a traditional jewery process where you have an sculpted in wax model and you paint a dots layout for knowing which could be the better gems distribution (pavé)
Hope you like it!

Awesome! Really cool and original. Pearl looks also really nice.
Thanks a lot Oscar! Glad you like it
Super cool nacho! I’m a horizontal grain kinda guy myself, but I think the vertical grain works out well in this. I find the colors to be a bit clashing between the focus of the rendering and the background, like a nice maple might make the piece pop a bit more.
Great work, looking forward to seeing the finished piece
Thanks Mitchell! Yes you’re right but this time I was looking for the contrast with the white dots, because is the main reason of this first render
Thank you! Let’s see what comes out
That makes total sense and what a cool approach to figuring out the gem layout. I never would have known that was a method for sorting that out.
